How to Use the Maps
Please turn off your popup blockers.
The county is highlighted and the value for the indicator
displayed when the mouse scrolls over it. When clicked, a
graph will appear in a new window that reveals how that
county’s indicator has changed over time.

A legend appears to the
left of the map. To
see a table for the values of all counties, click the
middle table tool. A new window will open with a table
of all the values. They can be sorted ascending or
descending by clicking on the buttons to the right of each
column name, as shown below.

To search for a particular value, click the right-side
table tool. It will open a dialog for entering in search
criteria. For example, it is possible to search for counties
whose recycling rate is greater than 9% for 2005 by
selecting “[2005]” from the Fields box, “>” from the
Operators box, “9” from the Values box, and then clicking
“Select” or “Select and Zoom”.
More Tools
The toolbar on the right side
of the map allow for zooming in, zooming out, panning,
returning to the map’s original view, identifying
information about each county, and printing. Click on the
question mark button to receive additional help on how
to use these tools.
