Public Safety Indicators

The indicators listed below summarize how well South Carolina is protecting its citizens and property. For each category, one or more indicators are listed and defined; and in brief, the significance or relevance of the indicators is included. Most of the data are comparable to other states and historical data are available.  Selected state rankings are also provided.  Additionally, the data sources are indicated via hyperlink for each indicator where possible.  In other cases, sources are simply referenced. Endnotes provide other referencing information and, in some cases, explanatory narrative.
