Dennis is a
Research Associate in the Survey Research Laboratory at the
Institute for Public Service and Policy Research. He works with
clients to design questionnaire, programs the CATI
(Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing) software, manages sample
to ensure accuracy of data used for conducting interviews, conducts
data analysis using SPSS, drafts final reports, and presents reports
to clients. Dennis has over five years experience in administering
telephone and mail surveys. He has participated in over 100 surveys
in areas of juvenile delinquency, health, law enforcement, and both
state and local government. He currently is involved in the
Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System and Adult Tobacco Survey
data collection for the state of South Carolina.
In addition to his
responsibilities with the Survey Research Laboratory, Dennis spends
about 20% of his time working with county and municipal governments
to provide training and technical assistance in the areas of
management services, organizational analysis, total quality
management, process re-engineering, long-range and strategic
planning and community planning. He also conducts training programs
on leadership, communication, innovation, and decision making. He
served as the University's Representative on the State Advisory
Committee on Educational Requirements for Local Government Planning
or Zoning Officials and Employees (SAC).
His local
government experience includes serving chairman of a joint planning
commission, vice chairman of a library commission, and chairman of a
county council. Dennis currently serves as chairman of the county’s
water and sewer authority
