Belinda earned her Bachelors Degree
in Business Management and Administration from the University
of South Carolina in 1983.Before joining the Institute for Public
Service and Policy Research in May 2000,she was administrative
assistant to the director of Mental Retardation at the South
Carolina Department of Disabilities in Special Needs for three
years. At the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs,
Belinda responsibilities included administrative functions for
the director of Mental Retardation, the Office of Standard Compliance
and State Level Forensics. She coordinated meetings, travel,
schedules, forensic evaluations and event coordination for the
Mental Retardation Division. She acted as the liaison
for the Division of Mental Retardation, which included five
offices within the division.
Prior to that, she was the office manager for the Department
of Student Media at the University of South Carolina in Columbia.
She supervised all administrative functions in the Office of
Student Media for the director of Student Media, the Gamecock
Newspaper, WUSC-FM, and Garnet and Black Magazine (GBQ). She
also coordinated with the business manager on daily accounting
and cash control issues. Belinda has over eleven years
experience in customer service. She was customer service supervisor
at the University of South Carolina Russell House Bookstore
for four years, where she received an Award of Excellence in
Customer Service in 1991.Previously she worked at Macys Department
store as a sales/customer service associate, where she received
the Macys 10-Year Recognition Award for Excellence in Sales
and Customer Service.
