Clerks to County Council Training Program
Purpose
The purpose of the County Clerks to
Council Training Program
is to assist clerks to county council and assistant clerks in
understanding their roles and responsibilities and to provide an
opportunity to enhance their skills and abilities to function
effectively in an increasingly challenging work environment. The Institute for Public Service
and Policy Research at the University of South Carolina began
offering this program in 1990 and continues to work closely with
members of the
South Carolina Association of County Clerks to Council to ensure
the training continues to meet the needs of its members.
Educational Sessions
The curriculum of the
County Clerks to Council Training Program
consists of 12 courses. Eight of these
courses are required and four are electives.
Each course equals three
hours of credit. The courses are offered through the South Carolina
Association of Counties’ Institute of Government for County
Officials and the winter meetings of the South Carolina Association
of County Clerks to Council.
In order to receive credit
for the courses, the South Carolina Association of County Clerks to
Council requires clerks to complete a knowledge transfer
questionnaire. Any questions regarding this requirement should be
directed to the Association’s Certification Committee. Completion
of the courses and the questionnaires satisfies the educational
component of the South
Carolina Association of County Clerks to Council's
certification requirements.
