MERCURY-CONTAINING
LAMP RECYCLING OUTREACH AND EDUCATION PROGRAM
With funding provided by the United States
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Environmental Research
and Service unit, in partnership with the South Carolina Business
Recycling Assistance Program (B-RAP), is conducting a three-year
program of outreach and education efforts designed to assist small
businesses and individuals in complying with new requirements under
the Universal Waste Rule

regarding
the disposal of mercury-containing lamps, and to increase the rate
of recycling of these lamps. To

B-RAP is a partnership of the South Carolina
Department of Commerce and the Department of Health and
Environmental Control. B-RAP
provides FREE technical assistance to businesses, government agencies,
educational institutions and other organizations interested in

Phase I of the project involved the creation by
the Association of Mercury Lamp Recyclers of a CD-ROM containing a
wide variety of training and educational materials, posters, video
clips, etc., regarding mercury-containing lamp recycling.
