Editorial
policy is established by the members of the Institute
for Public Service and Policy Research editorial board
for Public Policy & Practice,
an electronic journal devoted to governance and public
policy in South Carolina. The members of this board
consist of the Institutes executive director,
associate directors, and center directors.
Manuscripts
should address topical areas that present information
on public policy issues and management practices that
are designed to inform the public policy debate and
improve government services, with focus primarily
on South Carolina government.
Manuscript
content should focus on policy research (studies,
policy analysis, surveys, etc.); management practices
(current practices, leadership issues, innovation
in service delivery, organization and structure, etc.).
Book excerpts, book reviews, and reports on activities
of the Institute will also be considered for publication.
Manuscripts
will be reviewed for publication by the Institutes
editorial board. The approval of manuscripts for publication
will be at the discretion of the editorial board.
Criteria for acceptance include extent to which the
topic is relevant to the target audience (state and
local government officials, interested citizens, students
and the general public) and addresses a current issue;
quality of the manuscript, including presentation
of ideas, organization of ideas, critical thinking,
and accuracy of data and information; and the extent
to which it presents a balanced view of an issue.
Contributors
should be aware that a disclaimer will accompany each
edition of the Institutes electronic journal
stating the following: Any views construed to
be presented in this journal are those of the author
and do not necessarily represent or express those
of the Institute for Public Service and Policy Research,
the College of Liberal Arts, the University of South
Carolina, or any other agency or entity of the State
of South Carolina.
Contributors
should submit an electronic copy of the manuscript
to Mr. Richard Young (young-richard@sc.edu). The manuscript
should include an abstract of 150 words or less and
a biographical statement of 100 words.
Additionally,
contributors should submit two typewritten copies
of the manuscript to the Editor before or upon the
scheduled due date.
Manuscripts
should not violate the copyright of other publishers.
Further manuscripts that have been submitted to other
publishers will not be considered.
Manuscripts
should be complete and in publishable form. Additionally,
manuscripts should (a) be submitted in Microsoft Word
format, (b) be double-spaced, (c) not exceed 20 pages
in length, and (d) adhere to the American Psychological
Associations (APA) style guidelines for the
fifth edition.
The
author(s) will be responsible for verification of
all references.
